A number of field trips are organized throughout the year. Many of them are free, some are done via carpool where we ask everyone to chip in for gas. There are usually one or two trips a year where we rent a bus to get us to the destination, and early payment is required.
Field trips will be announced in advance at club meetings and can be found on the Event Calendar. In most cases, these trips are for members-only and as such you must be logged into the website to see them. Registration and payment is also normally done via the Event Listing. It is always good to register as early as possible, as in many cases there are a limited number of spots open.
A typical day:
A typical agenda for a Field Trip day is
- Gather at a common meeting place to share rides and to mix new members or visitors with veteran members to make new people feel comfortable and included.
- Travel by vehicle to the destination, and photograph for 3 to 4 hours after which we adjourn for lunch and a pleasant social time together at a reserved restaurant.
Most trips start early and end by mid-day, though we sometimes may extend the day depending on the subject matter and/or the desire of those who wish to do so. Bus trips may also be organized for more distant travel.
The trips go rain or shine, as weather conditions may be different at the intended destination. It is also good to learn to photograph in all types of weather. Fun and fellowship can be had no matter the weather.
Goals of the field trips are as follows:
- The most important one, HAVE FUN!
- Meet new people
- Share photographic tips and ideas
- Grow in your photography
We hope to see you come out and enjoy our trips. It is the best way to learn more about your camera and really get to know your fellow members.
