The event was held on May 7, 2026 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Session Description:
Our two distinguished guest artists working in conceptual photography will share their long-term and diverse projects. These works not only present captivating visual perspectives but also convey profound and meaningful concepts about culture, industry, and social impacts to the audience. Join us to explore the artistic vision and visual storytelling of these two artists and experience a unique journey into conceptual photography.
In this session, Andrea Orejarena and Caleb Stein, an artistic duo, will present their project "American Glitch," which innovatively portrays the glitches and disruptions within contemporary American culture, inviting the audience to reflect on social and cultural changes.
On the other hand, Seido Kino will explore the deep relationship between the metalworking industry and Japanese culture through his projects "Mother" and "The Strata of Time." The "Mother" project showcases the meaningful connection between metalworking processes and traditional culture, while "The Strata of Time" analyzes the various layers of social impact resulting from industrial transformations, especially in metalworking. Additionally, innovative presentation methods in this session will offer a unique opportunity to discover new styles of photographic exhibition.

Seido Kino Bio:
Seido Kino Born in 1978 in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, Seido Kino is the son of a baby-boomer father who worked at a local auto parts factory. From a young age, he believed that science and technology could solve social problems, leading him to study engineering at Kyoto University. There, he joined a laboratory focused on improving energy efficiency in the steel industry and reducing environmental impact.
During his university years, Seido also contributed to creating a Satoyama—a buffer zone promoting coexistence with nature—in Kyoto, which shifted his interest toward expressing these ideas through photography. Now based in Kyoto as a documentary photographer, he explores the essence of Japanese identity (“Japaneseness”) by examining the intersections of people, objects, places, time, and thoughts. He emphasizes that it is through the interaction of these elements that we become aware of our surroundings.
Seido Kino is the recipient of prestigious awards including the 49th Ina Nobuo Award and the Sony World Photography Awards in 2025.
