Session Description:\n
Our two distinguished guest artists working in conceptual photography
will share their long-term and diverse projects. These works not onl
y present captivating visual perspectives but also convey profound an
d meaningful concepts about culture, industry, and social impacts to
the audience. Join us to explore the artistic vision and visual story
telling of these two artists and experience a unique journey into con
ceptual photography.\n
In this session, Andrea Orejarena and Caleb Stein, an artistic duo, w
ill present their project "American Glitch," which innovatively portr
ays the glitches and disruptions within contemporary American culture
, inviting the audience to reflect on social and cultural changes.\n
On the other hand, Seido Kino will explore the deep relationship betw
een the metalworking industry and Japanese culture through his projec
ts "Mother" and "The Strata of Time." The "Mother" project showcases
the meaningful connection between metalworking processes and traditio
nal culture, while "The Strata of Time" analyzes the various layers o
f social impact resulting from industrial transformations, especially
in metalworking. Additionally, innovative presentation methods in th
is session will offer a unique opportunity to discover new styles of

Seido Kino Bio:\n
\n
Seido Kino Born in 1978 in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, Seido Kino is the
son of a baby-boomer father who worked at a local auto parts factory
. From a young age, he believed that science and technology could sol
ve social problems, leading him to study engineering at Kyoto Univers
ity. There, he joined a laboratory focused on improving energy effici
ency in the steel industry and reducing environmental impact.\n
During his university years, Seido also contributed to creating a Sat
oyama—a buffer zone promoting coexistence with nature—in
Kyoto, which shifted his interest toward expressing these ideas throu
gh photography. Now based in Kyoto as a documentary photographer, he
explores the essence of Japanese identity (“Japaneseness”
) by examining the intersections of people, objects, places, time, an
d thoughts. He emphasizes that it is through the interaction of these
elements that we become aware of our surroundings.\n
Seido Kino is the recipient of prestigious awards including the 49th
